AMC 8
AMC 8 at Einstein
The AMC 8 is a national math contest for middle schoolers — and it's all about using your brain in fun, creative ways.
It’s 25 multiple choice questions in 40 minutes, with no calculators. Some questions are tricky, some are sneaky, and all of them are a great way to stretch your thinking.
This January, we held the AMC 8 after school in Mr. Riley’s classroom. Huge thanks to Mr. Riley for making it happen!
Who Can Join?
Anyone at Einstein in grades 6–8!
You don’t need to be a math genius — just curious and willing to try. A lot of students who thought “this sounds hard” ended up really enjoying it.
Why Try It?
- To see what your brain can really do
- Practice math questions that you don't get in class
- Join a national event with thousands of students
- To say, “I did a national math contest!” and feel kind of awesome
What If I Mess Up?
No worries! The questions are designed to be challenging. Many students don’t get a high score — and that’s totally normal. The goal is to think, try, and learn something cool along the way. Everyone starts somewhere, and we cheer each other on.
How Do I Get Ready?
At math club, we’ll go over some practice questions and talk about problem-solving tips. You can also check out past questions online:
