Shorewood Volunteers
Looking for a meaningful way to earn tutoring hours?
Come spend a Friday afternoon mentoring at Einstein Math Club.
You’ll earn tutoring hours while helping younger students, and you may be surprised how much you learn yourself.
Explaining a problem to someone else builds deeper understanding, and a sixth grader’s question can make you rethink something you thought you already knew. You’ll also get practice communicating and working with younger students - useful skills whether or not you plan to do anything “math-related” later.
What will I do?
Each Friday from 3:15-5pm, 3–4 Math Mentors will join us and work with an assigned table of students.
You might:
- Work through a problem together with a student
- Ask questions, give hints, and talk through different approaches
- Encourage students and keep your table involved
- Help with materials and cleanup
You do not need to know how to solve every problem. Work together with a student, and ask one of the coaches when you need help.
Interested mentors can also work with a coach to prepare and lead a short math activity or mini-lesson.

The program is currently open to Shorewood students. Math competition, tutoring, or volunteer experience is helpful, but not required. Former Einstein Math Club students and volunteers are especially welcome back!
All new and returning volunteers should complete the 2026–27 Math Mentor Volunteer Application.
