Seattle MathCounts

MathCounts

MathCounts is a fast-paced, team-based math competition where quick thinking and clever strategies go a long way. It’s one of the biggest middle school math contests in the country — and it’s seriously fun once you get into it!

This year, 9 students from Einstein represented our school at the Seattle Chapter MathCounts competition, and guess what?

🎉 We placed 8th out of all participating schools in the Seattle area!

It was a great showing, and we’re super proud of everyone who participated.

Who Can Join?

Any student in grades 6–8 who likes a good challenge!

You don’t have to be super fast at first — you just need to enjoy problem-solving and want to grow. We might hold tryouts during a practice session in December to help form our team.

What’s It Like?

MathCounts has both individual rounds and team rounds, so you get to work solo and with friends. The problems can be tricky, but solving them together (or even just trying!) is what makes it exciting.

There’s also a buzzer round called the Countdown Round — like a math game show! Even if you’re not into speed, there’s something for everyone in this competition.

Check out last year's competition questions!

Why Try It?

  • Boost your problem-solving skills
  • Be part of a supportive, smart, slightly math-obsessed team
  • Represent Einstein and make your brain proud
  • It’s more fun than you think — especially when you're in it together

How Do I Get Involved?

We usually start prepping in late fall, with team selections happening in December or early January. If you're interested, just stop by math club next year — and we’ll help you get started!
